The place to be on 11/25 was Chop Suey, where CR had a helluva hoedown. Thanks to all of our friends fam and fans that came out to celebrate with us. It was an unexpectedly great turnout and a damn good time front to back.
djblesOne spun some incredible 80/90's joints for all us grandpa/ma's in the house, then host Barfly got up to deliver one in a series of incredible introductions I could never do justice in print. YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT IT IS!
The Valley got up and just fucking murked everything, they were so heavy and loud it was impossible to talk- AWESOME! Seriously, somebody remarked the Mudhoney-ish vibe and i couldn't agree more. Classic, HEAVY, LOUD-ASS, Seattle rock. I loved it and a lot of other people did too. (LOL they're playing on KEXP right now!)
If I'm not mistaken, this is when Barfly began The Slow Clap. The Stuff Of Legend.
How do you top that? You put on Dyme Def- who went up there and killed as they always do with their synergetic triangle offense of young bossy swag-rap. I found out from a few people his was their first time seeing DD and all went away duly impressed, even some that were admittedly skeptical at first.
The Girls got up and went way hard on some serious attitudinal punky 80's keyboard-laced rock reminscent of The (almighty)Cars, who they covered during their dope set. Those guys don't fuck around and they had a whole contingent of die-hards in front loving them and their penicled on pencil 'staches, plus they brought the legend,SLATS, to a CR gig. Fucking sweet, and they rocked.
Then CR did their 1-2 thing; if you know the real then you know the deal. A fast, loud, energetic, sweaty, cussin', very brief technical difficulties having, hands in the air, jump in the crowd DUMB-OUT.
Here's some video, forgive the low-res:
"Watch Your Step"
"Perseverance" &
"Umbrella"
"Wait A Minute!"
It was a fun set to cap off a VERY fun show and we can't thank enough everybody that played- the rock bands admitted they were initially skeptical of this set up til it cracked off haha- and everybody that partied with us(206 Proof was most definitely in the house). Let's Do It Again @ The Program.
